How Do You Make A Wool Quilt?
A cozy wool quilt can feel wonderful on a cold winter day. Once the wool is felted, it is remarkably easy to work with. Follow these steps to make a colorful wool quilt. Go to a thrift shop and buy some 100-percent wool sweaters. Of course, you can also use sweaters that you are ready to discard. Felt the wool by washing the sweaters in hot water and drying them. Felted wool does not have as much strength as regular wool, but it is warmer. It is also easier to work with. Cut half square triangles that measure 2 1/2 inches on each side. Use a rotary fabric cutter. Arrange the triangles in a pattern and sew them together using a zig-zag stitch. If you place them right up against each other, the zig-zag stitch will hold them together, and you won’t need seam allowances. Keep sewing until your quilt is just the right size.
