Show students how to fold the paper along the diagonal to form a triangle. Then fold it in half to form a smaller triangle. Instruct students to unfold the paper. There should be two creases along the diagonals of the paper. Tell your students to cut along the creases, stopping 1 inch before they reach the center. Help students use a sharp pencil to make a hole in the center of the paper. Then have them use the pencil to make a sharp hole on one side of each corner. Show students how to gently fold each corner toward the center of the paper so that the holes line up with the center hole. Push the paper fastener through all of the holes. Have students add a bead to the end of the paper fastener. Help students poke a hole in the side of the straw. Then add the straw to the end of the paper fastener and fold the sides of the fastener back.
