How Do You Make A Valance Using Styrofoam?
Valances made from Styrofoam are lightweight but strong. Valances can be made and installed in a few hours, making them a quick way to add to and embellish the decor of a home. The valance in this article is made of Styrofoam insulation board. This board is available in 4-by-8 foot sheets that are 1-inch thick. This board can be purchased at most home supply stores. The example valance board in this article will be 40 inches across 8 inches deep and extend from the wall by 6 inches. Cut two pieces of foam board 40 by 8 inches. Cut two pieces 8 by 6 inches. Using a glue gun, glue the long pieces on the 40 inch sides, this is the front and top of your valance board. Glue the end pieces, one to each end. The glued boards will resemble a box without the back portion. The wall will be the back of the valance. Spray paint the interior of the glued valance board.
