The valance in this article is made of Styrofoam insulation board. This board is available in 4-by-8 foot sheets that are 1-inch thick. This board can be purchased at most home supply stores. The example valance board in this article will be 40 inches across 8 inches deep and extend from the wall by 6 inches. Cut two pieces of foam board 40 by 8 inches. Cut two pieces 8 by 6 inches.
