How Do You Make A “V” Scroll With Paper Quilling?

0

Paper quilling has enjoyed resurgence in recent years, finding a niche in card making and scrapbooking. Quilling has existed for at least 500 years and is a simple yet elaborate craft. With the basic tools and a supply of quilling paper, it is a craft most anyone can do. Scrolls and coils are the two basic shapes. A “V” Scroll can be used as feelers on a quilled caterpillar, bumblebee or butterfly or can be used in an alternating pattern for a unique border. Cut a strip of quilling paper to 3 inches long. Fold the quilling strip in half. Coil one edge of the quilling paper around the needle quilling tool towards the fold, stopping just short of the fold. Release the coil from the tool. Twist the other edge of the quilling paper around the quilling tool, again stopping short of the fold. Pinch the middle of the quilling strip again, making a V shape. The coils should face outside the ‘V.” Decorate cards, tags or framed art with the finished scrolls and other quilled shapes.
