After a lot of trial and error, I finally found a few nice people willing to point me in the right direction. Now I hope to return the favor and save you from some of the mistakes and losses that I endured over the years. Take the object that you want to mold, and lay it on a piece of cardboard. Be sure to examine the object carefully and decide where you want the seam where the top and bottom of the mold meet to be. This is very important! You don’t want to end up with your original piece stuck inside the mold. Watch out for undercuts in the object you are molding. If there are deep undercuts, you can either fill them with clay and lose some of the detail, or you can cut the object you are molding into more than one piece.
