A treasure chest birthday cake is the perfect centerpiece for a child’s birthday party. It works well with a pirate theme, mermaid theme or even a beach theme. Making a treasure chest birthday cake is easier than it looks, but you don’t have to tell your guests that. Bake a cake in a 13x9x2 inch pan. Let it cool completely. Cut the cake into three equal rectangles. Take the middle rectangle and cut it diagonally into two triangles. The two remaining rectangles will act as the top and the base of the treasure chest.
