Whatever decorative materials you wish to include when making your topiary (dried flowers, fruit, moss or silk flowers), all topiary arrangements are constructed out of the same basic materials. Topiaries consist of craft materials attached to a foam base that perches on top of a stem or trunk inserted into a pot filled with florist’s clay. They are generally used as centerpieces, although larger ones might take the place of larger potted trees or plants, since they are considerably more decorative and lend a special touch to any festive occasion.
