A three-strand necklace is a more substantial piece of jewelry that looks nice with any beads you choose to make it with. Smaller beads are less cumbersome to work with when making your first three-strand necklace. You can make one with a multi-strand jewelry clasp and cable that holds up under pressure and use. Choose a three loop necklace fastener. There should be three prominent holes in the metal work for ease of use. Cut three strands of Tiger-tail or your favorite necklace cable at the lengths you desire plus 5 inches each. Put a crimping bead on the end of the shortest piece of cable. This is the piece which will be closest to the neck. Thread the cable through the bottom hole in the three strand jewelry clasp. Feed the cable end through the crimping bead to take up the excess cable. You will have cable through the bead, on through the hole in the clasp and back through the bead again.
