The cover sheet for a term paper, when necessary, lets your professor grab a quick look at the title of your paper and identify that it belongs to you and not another student. The clean blank areas of the cover page can also often be where your instructor critiques your work and gives your grade. While some teachers will request specific information and spacing guidelines for the cover sheet, others simply state that you need one. Luckily, a basic term paper cover sheet is easy to make. Step 1 Press “Enter” on the computer until the cursor is about one third of the way down the page. If you have the ability to view a side ruler on your writing program, then with a 1-inch margin, your cursor should be blinking at 2 1/4 inches or 3 1/4 inches, if your program doesn’t include the margin.
