How Do You Make A Tear Drop With Paper Quilling?
Paper filigree or paper quilling has been around for centuries. The simple shapes of loose coils, hearts, marquises, squares and scrolls have decorated everything from Bibles, cabinet doors, coat of arms, fireplace screens, baskets, tea caddies and furniture. Paper quilling is even mentioned in “Sense and Sensibility” by Jane Austen. The tear drop, or pear shape, is one of the basic shapes that can be used as flower petals, paired as hearts and as foundation pieces. Prepare your materials by laying out your quilling tool, quilling strips, template board, glue and waxed paper. Cut a strip of quilling paper to 3 inches. Condition the paper by running it through your fingers several times. Place the quilling paper on the tip of the needle quilling tool. Start to spin the quilling tool, coiling the paper around the needle end. Remove the tight coil from the quilling tool and let it unspool within the template board. Glue the end of the quilled coil onto itself. Let dry on the waxed paper.
