An item we see all the time at yard sale are old cast iron legs for sewing machines. We found the legs that someone had fastened a metal top on it. The top was old dented and rusting. We also had a couple of old ice cream chairs that we found the same weekend. Before we got home Pat knew what we should do! First thing to do, get rid of the old top. Then we used a wire brush to clean the legs up. We then spray them with white spray paint. By the way the little guy in the picture is my youngest grandson. With the old metal top off, I used 3/4″ MDF for the top. The size of the top is very optional. We had a couple of chairs we wanted to put with it to make a small table and chair set. Once you have the top cut, you will want to use molding for the table top edges. I had some old pieces of door casing and glued and nailed them on.
