How Do You Make A Strawberry Jam Cake?
This cake is perfectly delicious. I love jam cake, but had only had ones made with blackberry jam, until recently. I believe I love strawberry jam cake even more, if it’s possible. It even makes yummy cupcakes! Gather, prepare and measure out the ingredients: * 1/2 cup of vegetable shortening * 1 1/2 cups of sugar * 3 eggs * 1 cup of buttermilk * 1 teaspoon of baking soda * 2 1/2 cups of flour * 1 cup of strawberry jam * 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon * 1/2 teaspoon of allspice * 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg * 1/4 teaspoon of cloves Cream the shortening and sugar together in a large mixing bowl. Add the eggs in, one at at time, beating well. Sift the dry ingredients together. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk. Mix in the strawberry jam. Pour the cake batter into 3 light greased 8-inch layer cake pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cool and frost with caramel frosting.
