How Do You Make A Stone Enclosure For Outdoor Cooking Fires?
If you’re lucky enough to have enough flat rocks and stones on your property or if you can find a source for them, it’s easy to build a backyard enclosure for a cooking fire. The outdoor cooking fire can be a welcome relief from heating the house to cook a meal. It’s also wonderful to sit around in the evening with friends and family for socializing and conversation. Determine where you wish to place your fire. Make sure it is well away from any buildings or low hanging trees or shrubs. Use landscaper’s paint to mark where you want your stone walls. Be sure to leave plenty of space for the fire. Choose the largest flat stones and fit them in a single line following the painted outline. Build your walls by using the largest stones on the lower levels. Build one end to two feet tall and the other sides to four feet. Attempt to keep the three tallest sides reasonably level.
