Here’s how to make your own inexpensive and quick squirt gun from a soda bottle! • Obtain a large soda bottle with a cap. • Take the cap off. • Set the bottle aside. • Poke a hole in the cap with a tack or nail. • Fill the bottle with water. Replace the cap and squeeze to squirt!
Summer is a great time to get up and play outside. A popular toy for a hot summer day is a squirt gun, but you don’t have to go to the store to get one of these fun toys. It’s easy to make a squirt gun of your own—especially if don’t want your kids playing with toys made to imitate guns. Step 1 Unscrew the cap off a plastic water bottle. Paint the water bottle your desired color (use spray paint). Black works well for an imitation gun. Step 2 Poke a hole in the top of the water bottle cap using a thumbtack or a small nail. Hammer the nail or tack in if you’re having a hard time poking it through the cap. Step 3 Spray paint the cap to match the bottle. Add stencils, spray paint or acrylics to design the bottle. You could paint the bottle to look like a gun, an animal with the opening as its mouth or simply use abstract designs. Step 4 Fill the bottle with water and screw the cap on tight. Take aim and squeeze the bottle. Make as many of these squirt guns as you’d like.
