After trying the recipes that use a boxed yellow cake and add rum, I went back to REAL rum cake baking. It’s more work, but sure is worth the extra work for special occasions. Place the ingredients of the basic cake mix, pudding mix, milk, eggs, rum oil and vanilla in a large bowl and beat on MEDIUM speed for 2-3 minutes. Batter should be VERY smooth. Pour into a greased/floured Bundt pan, and level out the top of the batter. Bake until fully golden, cake springs back, and toothpick comes out clean. This will be approx. 55 minutes. RUM SOAKING GLAZE: In a small saucepan, combine butter, water, and sugar. Bring to a boil, carefully, as mixture boils over easily. Reduce heat to simmer and cook until sugar is dissolved and syrup is combined well and thickened. Remove from heat and combine mix with rum. While cake is cooling, pour this hot syrup into and on top the a cake. Actually, this may take a few minutes, as there’s quite a bit of syrup and if the cake doesn’t soak it up right away,
