How Do You Make A Simple Childs Tutu?
If you are in need of a simple tutu for a child’s holiday pageant costume or ballerina costume or your little girl loves to play dress-up, here is a quick and easy way to make one in less than an hour. First cut your length of ribbon so it can go around the waist a few times. Wrap it around and tie in a bow. You can use the same color of ribbon as you are using for the tutu or use a contrasting color. You child can choose the color which will make them feel more involved in making the tutu. Measure from your child’s waist to mid-thigh. Cut strips of tulle twice as long as this measurement and about 4-6 inches wide. The wider the strips the more full the tutu will be. Pull the end of the tulle under the ribbon so you have one end of tulle on each side of the ribbon. Tie the strip of tulle over the ribbon and fluff it. Continue tying the pieces all the way around the ribbon until the tutu is as full as you would like it to be.
