How Do You Make A Shutter Planter Box?
Planter boxes add design and interest to a home’s exterior and are easily made with old shutters. Constructed from weather resistant material, shutters are ideal for exterior craft projects. Any style will work for your planter box; try mixing and matching shutters, as only the front section is most visible. Gather shutters and other supplies. Old shutters can be found at local salvage, supply or thrift stores and can also be purchased new at home improvement stores. The fourth shutter is for the base of your planter box, but a piece of treated plywood cut to size can be used instead. Home improvement stores will cut material purchased from them at no extra charge, saving time and effort. Cut one of the shutters in half with a skill saw. This will make the two sides of your planter box. Run a line of waterproof adhesive along the bottom edge of a full size shutter; Liquid Nails is recommended for this project. Press the adhesive edge to the bottom edge of one of the cut shutter pieces.
