How Do You Make A Sevilla Cocktail?
A Sevilla cocktail is a drink made with rum, port wine, one whole egg and powdered sugar. Shaken in a cocktail shaker and poured into a cocktail glass, the Sevilla cocktail has a rich flavor with a distinct, thick texture reminiscent of many cocktails invented in the 1920s. Rum was the second most popular spirit at the time behind gin, and eggs were commonly used to supply thickness, as there were no health concerns about salmonella and other bacteria. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with crushed ice. Add the rum, port wine, egg and powdered sugar to the cocktail shaker. Cover the cocktail shaker with the palm of your hand or the supplied top and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds. Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into a cocktail glass. Garnish the drink with a twisted orange peel and serve immediately.
