How Do You Make A Sand Scarf?
A sand scarf is used by military men and women overseas in the Middle East. The scarf is used to protect them from the high heat and sand that is constantly blowing around them. The soldiers can cover their heads and partially cover their faces to keep the sun and sand off. Sand scarves can be made and shipped overseas to support our troops. Lay out your fabric on your work surface. Fold in half lengthwise so the selvaged edges are together. Measure 14 inches in length. Mark with a fabric marker or use straight pins to mark the length. Cut the fabric across at the mark you made. You now have a 60-inch by 14-inch piece of fabric. Stitch along all four edges of the fabric using a zigzag stitch. No need to make a hem. The zigzag stitch keeps the edges from raveling. A serger can be used instead. Repeat these steps to make as many scarves as you desire. Send your scarves overseas to support out servicemen.
