Sand painting is a fun tactile experience for all ages. Kids will enjoy just playing in the glue and sand while adults might like to make designs that are a little bit more fancy. Just follow the steps below. Color your sand. Put some sand in a zipper bag along with a few drops of food coloring and shake. Make as many different colors as you want. Next, draw the outline of your design on a sheet of cardboard or canvasboard. Spread a thin layer of glue on areas where you want the sand to stick and cover the area in sand. Do only one color at a time. Shake off all of the excess sand and repeat with the next color. Experiment with different designs, colors and backgrounds.
