Perhaps you have a rocking chair that has upholstery that’s seen better days. Rather than replace the rocking chair, you can make a rocking chair slipcover. The cost of the fabric and the time you put into making the slipcover will be far less than the cost of a new rocking chair. Get an idea of the amount of fabric you will need to make a slipcover for your rocking chair. Use a measuring tape or tailor’s tape, available at any sewing shop, to measure from the floor in front of the rocker across the seat, up the back, then down to the floor on the other side. If it’s easier, you can do this with a piece of string, make a mark on the string and then measure it afterward. If your rocking chair has arms, measure from the floor, over the arms and across the seat. Write these measurements down. This will give you an approximate idea of the amount of fabric you need.
