How Do You Make A Rocket Science Project?
This is an elementary school science project to build a chemical reaction rocket. When you combine vinegar with baking soda, this forms a gas that creates pressure inside the canister. When the film canister can no longer withstand the pressure, it launches into the air. A student can observe the launch and apply observations to learn about Newton’s Laws of Motion. Students can experiment with the amount of the baking soda to discuss how different amounts affect how high the canister launches. Remove the top of the film canister and fill the inside with baking soda. Pack the baking soda tightly. Place two tbsp. of vinegar into the canister. Gently put the lid back on the canister and snap the lid shut. Turn the canister upside down and place it on the ground. You need to wait multiple seconds before blast off occurs. Step back to a safe distance from the canister.
