How Do You Make A Rice Sock?

1

Labor is generally a time when most moms find heat as a natural comfort source. Between the intensity and duration of the contractions, heat usually soothes those muscles that are tense. One of the best ways to obtain heat is from making a rice sock. Rice socks are easy to make and keep heat 20 to 30 minutes. They can be used anywhere a laboring mom feels she needs it. Place the funnel in the top of the sock. Pull the top of the sock over the stem of the funnel and wrap your hand around it creating a seal. Take the cup and dip it in the rice. Pour it carefully into the funnel and gently move the stem of the funnel so the rice will drain. Repeat this step until the sock is 3/4 of the way full. Once the sock is full, remove the funnel. Tie the top of the sock in a knot. You have now made a rice sock. You can either put it in the microwave and heat it for two to three minutes or you can freeze it.
