How Do You Make A Ribbon Embroidery Twisted Rose?
There are several kinds of ribbon roses to use for ribbon embroidery needlework projects. The twisted rose is an easy one to make, and very pretty in rose clusters or flower arrangements in ribbon embroidery. The sample here is made of heavy grosgrain so you can see the twists, but 4mm silk ribbon makes beautiful roses for attachment. Cut two lengths of ribbon about 9 inches long. Place the two ribbons one on top of the other one, wrong sides together so the smooth side shows. 4mm ribbon is a good common size, but you may want to use larger ribbon embroidery ribbon for large projects. Begin twisting the ribbons. Hold the ribbons in both hands as far apart as they will go, and twist the ends with your hands. Twist the entire ribbon. Twist until all of the ribbon has a twist, and there is very little space left between the twists. Move hands only.
