Making a realistic looking polymer clay doll is hard, and it takes many hours of practice to get it right. It will be easier if you watch videos made by a pro, but it isn’t necessary. Many people have learned by trial and error. If you want your doll to look as human as possible, choose a flesh toned polymer clay. Start with the face. Pinch of a ball of clay about the size you want the head to be. Sculpt the face using pictures as a guide, with a front view and side view for the profile. Once you are satisfied, you can smooth out the head and face. Next, make a wire armature that fits the size of the head. Make sure there is enough extra wire to insert into the bottom of the head. Use one long length of wire to form a stick-figure body for your doll. Set the head aside, and tape up the wire using masking tape. This will be the base for forming the body.
