How Do You Make A Ram Air System?
Ram air systems offer a way to increase efficiency and horsepower for any vehicle. Essentially, a ram air system reroutes your vehicle’s existing air intake system so that it is positioned on the front of the engine compartment, situated with a scoop pointed outward to increase the amount and speed of air taken in by the engine. Prefabricated ram air systems can be costly and complicated; however, it is possible to build your own from a few simple, inexpensive materials. Step 1 Locate an area on the front of your engine compartment that allows good airflow and has space for a 6 to 7 inch “scoop.” Step 2 Attach one end of the dryer venting to the existing airbox hole with the zip-ties. Route the venting through the engine compartment to the location you picked in Step 1. Step 3 Fashion a conical scoop by rolling the plastic sheeting into a “funnel” and then zip-tying the end of the dryer venting to the funnel.
