A puppy can be shy creatures at first, especially when brought home to a new surrounding. He is unsure of what’s going on around him and who he can trust, so drinking water may be the last thing on his mind. On the other hand, a puppy may be full of energy, and just too busy to drink water. Staying hydrated is important for all dogs, especially puppies as they are growing and developing every day. Offer water at all times during the day for a puppy. Be sure the water is fresh, clean and free of any dirt or bugs that may have accumulated over time. Add warm water to the puppy’s food if he is not drinking enough water on his own.
