How Do You Make A Projector Bulb Last Longer?
Like any incandescent light, the light bulb in a projector produces a lot of heat, and can fail suddenly and unexpectedly. Because they are brighter than most lights, projector bulbs are especially vulnerable when they are being operated. The key to making your bulb last longer is to treat it as gently as possible when it is running. Keep it cool and avoid any unnecessary jolts. Run your projector at the lowest setting possible. Many projectors have adjustable dimmers. If you turn the dimmer down, the bulb won’t get as hot, leading to longer life. Clean the filter frequently. Use a shop-vac or a can of compressed air to clean dust and dirt out of the filter about every 3 months. Also, blow any accumulated dust off the actual bulb. Make sure the fan is in good operating condition. If it seems to be blowing less air over the bulb than usual, or is making a lot of noise, have it checked and repaired. The fan keeps the bulb cool. Any reduction in its efficiency will make the bulb burn out
