How Do You Make A Potato Lefse Recipe?
Most people who know how to make a potato lefse recipe are of Scandinavian descent or live in Minnesota. Or both! We live in Minnesota and my husband’s family is Norwegian so potato lefse has always been a traditional menu item for all of our holiday meals. It is so easy to make that we now have it as a staple in our house. For those who are not familiar with potato lefse and how it is eaten, think of it as a Scandinavian tortilla. It is round in shape and soft-textured (though other versions, called Norwegian flat bread, are crispy.) Individual rounds of lefse are called “laves.” The basic lefse ingredient is mashed potatoes; a great way to use leftovers. We use it as a “wrapper” and fill it with meat, cheese, egg salad or whatever we might put in a sandwich.
