How Do You Make A Portable Compost Bin?
Most gardeners understand the need for a compost bin. But what if you don’t have the room to put one in the back yard and you still want the kids to learn the benefits of recycling table scraps? This technique will allow you to make a compost bin on a small scale and you can still make enough compost to feed a number of potted plants on your patio. Any plastic tub with a tight fitting lid will work for this project. Turn your plastic bin over and poke several holes in the bottom of the bin. You can use nails or a drill to make the small holes. Fill the container with the moist old shredded newspaper and a mixture of straw, sawdust, shredded leaves. This will become the home to the worms that will make the compost. Add a layer of dirt and worms. (Look for worms in your garden or back yard.
