Valentine’s Day means giving friends, family and other loved ones cards to show how much you love and appreciate them. Purchasing these paper tokens of affection can become quite expensive, especially if the cards are intended for a child’s classroom. Instead of purchasing impersonal cards from a pharmacy or a department store, enlist your kids to help manufacture some pop-up cards that will add a little extra “wow” factor to this year’s Valentine’s Day festivities. Fold a piece of white construction paper in half. Manufacture a series of pop-up hearts by cutting out the shape of a heart at the top of the fold of the paper, leaving a small notch behind for later. Cut out a second heart below the first, once again leaving a notch. Cut out a third heart below the second, once again leaving a notch.
