How Do You Make A Play Castle?
• For the castle top, lay your fabric over your table and cut the outline leaving an inch seam allowance. • Turn fabric inside-out and attach castle walls with pins. Start at the middle of door opening for a seamless castle. If necessary, trim where fabric touches the floor. • Sketch a door opening and cut out. • Machine sew this castle based and replace it on table right-side out. • Cover tubs or boxes with fitted tubes of gray base fabric. Drawstrings and elastic were used to secure fabric tubes to tubs. Use these tubs or boxes to store kid’s toys. • Make stone bricks with contrasting gray fabric. Using quilt batting, make long, rectangular pillows, using the entire length of fabric. Segment them last to look like bricks. Some bricks are tiny pillows, like the ones turning corners on the door. • Pin stones to castle base. Finish castle by attaching stones with a machine. A few stones may need some hand stitching.
