How Do You Make A Pinch-Pleat Fabric Curtain?
Pinch pleated draperies are easy to make and you only need minimal sewing skills. Measuring correctly is important. Sewing a hemming stitch and straight stitching on the machine is all the sewing you need to know how to do. Step 1 Measure length of window from top of window frame to the floor. Add 15 inches to this measurement. If you want puddled drapes add an additional 18 inches. Choose a solid color or a print that does not need to be matched for your first venture. Step 2 Cut fabric panels to the above measurement. Cut lining fabric 2 inches shorter. Step 3 Lay fabric panel face down on a flat surface and turn up a 4 inch hem, press on fold. Turn up hem again, press on fold and pin hem. Repeat with lining fabric, except turn up a 3 inch hem instead of 4. Sew hems with a 1/2 inch hemming stitch removing pins as you go. Step 4 Once you have all your panels and linings hemmed you are ready to put them together. Lay fabric panel face down on a flat surface. Place lining face up on top
