Making an Airsoft-type pen is a simple project that should be done with adult supervision. The project involves a party popper for propulsion, Airsoft BBs and an ordinary stick-style disposable pen. The pen is used for backup as a last resort when playing paintball games and for dispersing several BBs at once toward a target. Carefully open the back of a party popper and remove the string and the small detonating tube to which it is attached. Do not pull on the string during removal, and handle with caution. Remove the pen head and connected tube of ink from the pen. Remove the plastic cap from the opposite end. A plastic tube is all that remains. Insert the popper detonator into the end of the pen tube and tape securely in place using the clear tape. Allow a small opening for the string to be pulled from the detonator.
