Cut Out the Pieces Step 1 Make sure you have 2 yards of fabric for the ties and patches, 2 yards for the back and patches, 1 yard in a solid color for patches and 1 yard in a contrasting color for patches. Step 2 Wash and iron all your fabric before you begin. Step 3 Use the 2 yards you are using for the ties and patches to cut 5 strips that are 45 inches by 7 inches , 1 strip that is 45 inches by 4 inches.
