How Do You Make A Papier-Mache Jewelry Box?
With a purchased papier-mache box, wrapping paper and decoupage techniques you can make a distinctive jewelry box craft. Add knobs to the inside of the box to keep necklaces from tangling, and use a wooden knob on the lid to make it easy to open the box. The project, adapted from one on the MakePlayDough website, uses materials commonly found at craft and hardware stores. Step 1 Tear small strips (approximately 1 inch by 2 inch) of various designs of wrapping paper. Be creative with your wrapping paper choices. For example, you might use a combination of striped, dotted and solid wrapping paper, or two or three styles of Christmas gift wrap. Step 2 Pour 1/2 cup school glue and 1/4 cup water into a bowl. Mix well. Step 3 Dip a paintbrush into the glue mixture. Paint a thin layer of the mixture all over the outside of the papier-mache box and lid.
