How Do You Make A Paper Top Hat?
Top hats are tall hats with a high cylindrical crown. At first used for ordinary wear, they later became symbols of elegance. The top hat was worn with formal male attire. A variant, the opera hat, could actually be collapsed for easy carrying. You can make a simple top hat out of newspaper. Place both sheets of newspaper on top of the roll of paper towels. Turn the top sheet of newspaper slightly to the side so as to form an “X” with the two sheets. Press down on both sheets of newspaper and mold them around the roll of paper of towels. Bunch up the newspaper as closely as you can. You want to copy the cylindrical shape of the paper towels. Place scotch tape all the way around the newspapers at the bottom of the roll of paper towels. Do not tape the newspapers to the paper towels. Fold the bottom of the newspaper up into the shape of a small brim. Roll the very end of the brim slightly upwards. Remove the top hat from the roll of paper towels.
