Making a paper plate scarecrow is a great activity to do with children, especially in the fall. Here are a few steps for completing a simple scarecrow—feel free to get as creative as you want. Take a paper plate and glue yellow yarn to the top—this will act as the “straw hair.” You can also use strips of construction paper or even real straw. Cut a piece of brown or orange construction paper into the shape of a hat. Glue the hat to the top of the paper plate, over the hair. Glue plastic eyes to the paper plate, beneath the yarn. You can also use buttons as eyes. Draw or paint a nose on the paper plate. Draw or paint a nose on the paper plate. Tie a red ribbon into a bow and glue it to the bottom of the plate, under the mouth. You now have your scarecrow!
