Paper crane chains, also known as paper crane garlands, can be beautiful home or wedding decorations, or they can be presented to a friend or a loved one. Paper cranes, also know as origami cranes, are beautiful individually, but stringing them together will allow you to hang them up for a striking display. You can purchase origami cranes (Reference 4) or you can make origami paper cranes yourself. (Reference 3). To start your chain, cut a piece of yarn the length that you want your paper crane chain to be. Thread about two inches of the yarn through a tapestry needle. Knot the long loose end of the yarn. This knot should be large enough that the cranes will not slip through. Locate the tiny hole in the paper crane’s belly. This is the hole that was used to inflate the crane. Push the needle through the hole and out through the center of the crane’s back. Pull the yarn through until the crane is seated comfortably on the knot.
