Origami is the art of folding paper into various designs and shapes. The exact origins of origami are not known but it is thought that it may have been invented in China and then refined by Japan (N. Robinson, 2008). Paper cranes are associated with campaigns against nuclear weapons, such as the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). According to ICAN, every year around the world people fold paper cranes in memory of the people who died in 1945 when atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan.
