CB radios are a popular accessory for those who do a large amount of cross-country driving, or outdoor enthusiasts who generally drive to remote locations in the countryside. A CB antenna can be mounted anywhere on your vehicle, but the roof of your vehicle is generally the best area with the greatest reception capacity. Mounts for a CB antenna can be fabricated at home with simple materials such as wood, aluminum or steel provided that you have the appropriate tools to perform the construction. Measure the diameter of your CB antenna base and locate the position of the mounting bolt holes. Cut a piece of 1/2-inch aluminum plate to the dimensions of your CB base using a hacksaw or power saw with an appropriate blade. Cut the piece square leaving 1 1/2 inches of space around the diameter of the base. Sand down one side of the plate with a power sander or grinder leaving 1 1/2 inch on all four sides.
