How Do You Make A Monkeys Paw For Reading Teachers?
“The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W. Jacob was published 1902 and remains a popular story for reading and English teachers in secondary education. The story revolves around a cursed object, a monkey’s dried paw, which is able to grant three wishes. Naturally, messing with the supernatural takes its toll, and the wishes have terrible consequences. This interactive project allows students to recreate the preserved monkey’s paw featured in the story without the actual monkey or the curse. As a method of plot reinforcement, teachers can use this project for extra credit or as a supplemental activity. Form a pipe cleaner frame or skeleton of the paw by twisting pipe cleaners together. Start with a central pipe cleaner and add fingers. Fingers can be posed as desired. Dip shredded newspaper strips so they are moist, but not soaked. Layer strips around the wire pipe cleaner frame until bulk increases. Smooth the layers of newspaper over the paw, then allow to dry. Paint paw brown or black. Allow to dry
