The Mitsumi DVD player is encrypted, as is the case with all stand-alone players, so that it can only play DVD discs manufactured for the same “region” (or location in the world) as that of the disc. To enable the Mitsumi to play DVD discs no matter what region they come from, activate a hidden menu using the remote control. The procedure is straightforward and similar to that used on other DVD players — requiring a music CD. Making the Mitsumi region-free will not negatively affect the operation of the player or void any warranty in place. Aim the front of the Mitsumi remote control at the DVD player.
