Baby powder also always comes in handy when working with polymer clay because it allows you to make things not stick, and sometimes that comes in very helpful. Start making you cake using equal parts of yellow, white, and translucent clay Mix these colors together really well. You want the cake to be a uniform color; separate the clay into 2 balls. Flatten the balls by pressing on the center of the balls and forming a disk. These will be your cake layers.
