Cut the sleeves off of a brown T-shirt and tear the sides open long. Put a dark colored shirt on underneath your tunic.

Wear dark tight pants, or even dark leggings or tights, with leather shoes. Put a belt around your waist and buy an apron. Finally use some charcoal or dark chalk to make it look like you’ve been working all day.

The blacksmith in medieval times was the working man behind all of the glamorous knights and their armor and weapons. Many people love to recreate medieval costumes, but most go for knight or princess costumes. With a blacksmith costume, you will be sure to stand out more in the crowd. Whether for a Halloween party or a medieval or Renaissance fair, the blacksmith is possibly the easiest costume to recreate. Yet, the costume will look amazing and authentic, even though very little time or effort went into it. Go to a thrift store and buy a slightly oversized, long-sleeved, white T-shirt and a simple pair of brown or black pants. If you can find one, buy a simple brown men’s apron. If not, it’s very easy to make your own. Cut out a piece of fabric in the basic shape of an apron. The bib part should be as tall and as wide as the front of your torso. The bottom part should expand to be wide enough to wrap around the sides. It should be about knee length. Hem the apron all the way around.
