How Do You Make A Mancala Game Set?
If you enjoy Mancala, here is a simple way to create your own game set. It’s a great project to do with kids on a rainy day or to make as a gift. This is one game that there’s no need to purchase! Cut the top off of an empty egg carton. For Mancala you need 2 rows of 6 cups or “pits.” If you are using a larger egg carton, cut down to 2 rows. Paint the egg carton in any color(s) or pattern you like. Also paint two small cups (I used cleaned single-serving fruit cups) to use at each end of the board for the “stores.” When the paint has completely dried, coat the set with artist’s varnish or polyurethane to seal the paint. Mancala playing pieces can be a group of any of the same small items such as pennies, seeds or stones. I used small glass vase stones. You’ll need 48 pieces of whichever item you choose to use.
