For my daughter’s 13th birthday she wanted a luau birthday cake with a smoking volcano. I couldn’t find a recipe online, but I did manage to pull it off. Here’s how. Make two of the cake mixes according to the package directions and bake them in the 9 x 13 pan. I prefer to line my pan with parchment paper because it’s so easy to lift it out without damaging it, plus the clean up is so easy. Take some aluminum foil and scrunch it loosely into a rough rope that’s about 18 inches long. Coil this inside the Pyrex bowl. This is what you’ll use as a volcano shaped cake pan. The more foil you put in the bowl, the more pointed your volcano will be. Be sure to leave the center wider than your shot glass because that will be the center of the volcano.
