How Do You Make A Longshoreman Cocktail?
A Longshoreman cocktail is a very strong Irish whiskey-based drink. Whiskey purists and fans of strong cocktails may truly appreciate the immediacy of the Longshoreman, but those that like their drinks a bit gentler may have a tough time getting this bold, smoky tasting drink down. The Longshoreman is generally served in a chilled cocktail glass straight up, but it can be poured into a sours glass with crushed ice if desired. This will also help to add a bit of water to the drink as the ice melts. Fill a cocktail shaker half-full with crushed ice. Add the Irish whiskey, absinthe, Italian vermouth and green chartreuse to the cocktail shaker. Cover the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds. Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish the finished cocktail with a freshly twisted lemon peel and serve right away.
