Kids love collecting colored leaves in the fall, so why not turn it into an educational craft activity for the classroom? Depending on the grade level of the students involved, this activity can be used for a variety of activities. For Kindergarten it is ideal for sorting by attributes, graphing, sequencing, counting, and color identification. Gather an assortment of colored leaves. Make sure you include a variety of sizes, colors and types of leaves. This will allow for many opportunities for young children to sort by attributes. You may want to laminate the leaves or iron them between two pieces of wax paper before you begin sorting, counting or graphing activities.
