Paper plates are the perfect shape to make a fun ladybug craft. Many of the materials needed to create the ladybug are found in the average home or classroom. These paper plate ladybugs work well as a classroom art project, as an addition to a science lesson on bugs or as a rainy day activity at home. They also make a festive display, especially in the springtime. They are simple enough for preschoolers to complete with some assistance from an adult. Cut a circle from a piece of black construction paper to create the head of the ladybug. Paint one of the paper plates with black tempera paint. Glue the head to the black paper plate. Cut another plate in half. Paint the two halves red. Dip a finger in black tempera paint and dab it on the red halves to create spots on the ladybug.
